CHARLES H. WELCH

The other is a postcard in lighter vein from Elroy Robinson announcing the birth of their little son, and my reply in
kind, which did not in the least lessen our intense concern for the truth entrusted to us both.
`Here on the farm we've been getting lots of new things lately:
Fifty fuzzy white baby chickens,
Five little kittens as cute as the dickens,
Then four baby robins in a nest on the wall,
`N' twice nine hungry piggys that sure can squall.
But these things above are just incidental
And not what we really want to tell you at all,
For the best and biggest and cutest addition
Who with his mother is in perfect condition
is:
DAVID JOHN: announcing "I arrived 2:20 p.m. May 6th. I weigh 9 lbs 6 3/4 ozs. and stand 22" tall. I don't
want a thing except for you to know I'm here and that my Dad and Mom are
Elroy and Dorothy"`.
To this poetic effusion we replied in kind, as follows:
How nice to arrive
Where the kittens are five
5
And fuzzy white chickens are fifty
50
It must seem very fine
When the pigs are twice nine
18
And the four baby robins are nifty
4
You seem very tall
And you cannot be small
In fact you appear to be weighty
So we send you our love
2 p. m.
And we hope we now prove

That the total now adds up to eighty

From Mr. and Mrs. Chas. H. Welch.
I loved your reply
Such adroitness in rhymes
Your versatile mind
In poetical lines!
Pray tell me what muse
has you cold on the floor
For it seems you have talent
Elroy.
and talents in store.
`We have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us' (2 Cor.
4:7).
WHEN IT PLEASED GOD ... TO REVEAL HIS SON
The time was now approaching when the spiritual crisis took place for which all this previous preparation was
permitted - a veritable Road to Damascus. It was while I was seeking a special grammar in Bookseller's Row,
